Stage 2: Authorization
By the end of the initial meeting with Focus Claims, we’re confident you’ll realize the importance of having a public adjusting firm on your side during the claims process. So the next step would be a discussion about our fees and legally authorizing Focus Claims to be your claim representative.
Appointing Focus Claims
In order for us to legally represent you, you must first appoint us as your public adjuster. This is simply done by signing an authorization form which allows us to advise your insurance carrier that we will be your claim representative.
Focus Claims Fee Structure
Focus Claims fees are minimal. By minimal we mean they are unsubstantial when compared to the total recovery amount we are able to negotiate for you. Although each case is accompanied by a unique set of circumstances that may dictate a higher or lower fee, as a reference, you can approximate our fees to be in the 10% range (only 1/10th of your total recovery). Since our compensation is in direct relation to your recovery you can trust that we have a vested interest and are extremely motivated to ensure that you are compensated adequately and in direct proportion to your coverage and policy limits.
Stage 4: Documentation of the Claim
One of the provisions of an insurance policy that the policyholder is required to conform to is “Your Duties After a Loss”. In order to meet those requirements for documentation, you must complete a complex and meticulous process often requiring ample time and extra expenses. However, when Focus Claims is authorized as your claim representative we create a precise property profile reflecting an accurate value that conforms to the language in your insurance policy.
This extensive process includes:
- Comprehensive construction estimates with all applicable engineering documents
- Thorough and confirmed inventory and content schedules with accurate valuations and all supporting documents
- Business interruption coverage analysis including projections and forecasts
- Technical and supporting document requirements for the claims adjusting process.
Stage 6: Negotiations
It’s expected that there may be some negotiations with your insurance carrier regarding the claim submission. Often, this simply comes down to the justification of the value and legitimacy of your claim elements. However, a well-defined, professionally documented position will almost always garner the respect of the insurance carriers representative.
